Vehicles in recent years have automatic and electronic parking brakes that are reliable. However, these functions can be switched off by the driver or remotely. Compromising safety is not something that fleet managers want in their operations and parking brake data comes into play to ensure this.
In an incident, fleet managers can use parking brake data to determine the status of the parking brake before the crash. Plus, users can be reminded that the parking brake is off. Either by notification data shown on the vehicle cluster screen or by fleet management sending alerts via mobile data networks.
