Bornemann Introduces a New Fleet Logbook Solution Featuring In-Vehicle Telematics Data

November 1, 2023
The all-new logbook application enables fleets to set up automated, digital logbooks without installing additional hardware. By utilising High Mobility’s connected car data interface, Bornemann’s new solution already covers passenger and light commercial vehicles of 17 different brands. This marks the first use of in-vehicle data at Bornemann and the result of the new cooperation between Bornemann and High Mobility.

Bornemann AG is a German provider of advanced GPS technologies to monitor not only fleets and individual vehicles but also objects such as shipping and other industrial containers. In the past decades, the company has proven its industry leading engineering quality, continuous product innovation and special emphasis on perfect user-friendliness. With its modular software and hardware systems, Bornemann offers advanced geolocation tracking with a vast selection of modern features such as geofencing, route planning and digital vehicle administration to increase the order volume while at the same time decreasing communication and fuel consumption costs.

Bornemann’s fleet logbook solution provides a straightforward representation of all trips including start date and end date, initial address and target address as well as the number of driven kilometres. The trip purpose or the visited customer can be added manually by the driver later on. All other information are recorded automatically utilising live vehicle data in the background. For the very first time, Bornemann customers benefit from an off the shelves solution that does not require any shipping and installation of hardware devices. New cars can be added and activated right away utilising High Mobility’s digital fleet clearance flow and the corresponding application programming interface which pushes new data in a standardised format as soon as it is generated in the associated cars.

With help of the automated logging, the fleet logbook solution minimises manual mistakes and the risk of forgotten reportings. The export functionality makes it easy to attach a complete and compliant trips overview when filing tax reports. Therefore, drivers in Germany that use corporate cars also for private purposes can usually expect a higher tax return as opposed to the 1% lump-sum taxation method.

High Mobility provides the trusted source for connected car data based on direct OEM contracts and a fully GDPR-compliant contractual framework with its customers. Live vehicle data is forwarded directly to the Bornemann system and High Mobility does not store or analyse any  information for other purposes. Additionally, High Mobility implemented a company wide Information Security Management System according to the best practices set out in the ISO 27001 standard and also is recognised with the Trusted Information Security Assessment Exchange (TISAX) certification.

As both Bornemann and High Mobility share a strong affinity for innovative ideas, high-quality engineering, secure data handling, and a distinctively clear design language, the new logbook solution marks only the beginning of a new and ongoing partnership.
